End of Life Pet Photoshoot: Capturing Brutus’ Story

Amber reached out to me with a heartfelt request. Her beloved dog, Brutus, had recently been diagnosed with cancer, and she wanted to capture their precious moments together before his chemotherapy began.

As a dog photographer, I knew how much these images would mean to her family. Together, we planned a meaningful Rainbow Bridge Session to honour Brutus and celebrate their bond.

A Special Day at Lowville Park

We chose Lowville Park in Burlington, ON, for their outdoor dog photoshoot. This location is one of my favourites, with its serene trails, open spaces, and picturesque scenery.

You can read this blog to learn why I love shooting here.

Why I love Lowville Park

The family of four—Amber, Mike, Brutus, and their young rescue dog, Ellie—shared laughter, cuddles, and quiet moments throughout the session.

Adopted from Dog Tales Rescue, Ellie added her playful energy, creating heartwarming memories.

Prioritizing Brutus’ Comfort

Brutus’ well-being was my top priority. I went at his pace, allowing breaks whenever he needed them. I kept both dogs engaged and comfortable with a selection of treats, toys, and attention-grabbing noises.

It was essential to capture the classic family portrait with the dogs and Brutus’ strength and personality.

“We recently had the pleasure of working with Sharon for a family photoshoot after our senior dog was diagnosed with cancer. Sharon was amazing from start to finish. From being quick to respond to us to delivering the final results. She provided great recommendations, was accommodating with timing and very supportive. Not only was she conscious and considerate of our dogs limitations after his surgery but she was also patient with our younger rescue, who can be quite energetic and anxious. We felt our pups were safe and in good hands the entire time. Turnaround time was incredibly fast, which was very much appreciated as we were so excited! The photos we received were absolutely beautiful. It's clear that Sharon is exceptionally talented, loves what she does and takes pride in her work. Thank you for your time, generosity and helping us capture such special moments!"
