Capture Your Dog’s Personality with a Fall Family Dog Photoshoot

If you’re looking for a memorable way to capture your dog’s unique personality alongside family moments, a fall pet pictures session could be the perfect way to make memories. As a pet and family photographer in Burlington, I recently had the pleasure of photographing Kevin, his girlfriend, and their rescue dog, Nova, at Lowville Park.

Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at the session and what you can expect from your own pet photography sessions this fall.

Fall Photoshoot at Lowville Park: The Perfect Backdrop

When Kevin first reached out, he wanted a special way to document his bond with Nova, a dog he and his girlfriend had adopted from Save Our Scruff. Fall is the perfect season for dog family portraits because the vibrant colours add a beautiful touch to any image, and Lowville Park in Burlington offers just the right setting for a cozy, outdoor fall photoshoot. With golden leaves, scenic trails, and open spaces, Lowville Park helped us capture those classic autumn vibes.

The Star of the Family and Pet Photography Session: Nova

In any pet family photos, pets often steal the spotlight, and Nova was no exception. We began with some portraits of Nova by herself, letting her explore and get comfortable with the camera.

Her curious, playful personality really came through in the photos, and I made sure to take a variety of shots, from close-ups to wider shots that showed off the beautiful fall scenery.

Capturing Connections: Pet Parents and Their Pup

After we’d taken a few images of Nova, we moved on to include Kevin and his girlfriend. For family dog photoshoots, it’s important to capture the connection between pets and their families.

I took individual shots of each of them with Nova, then posed the three of them together for some beautiful pet family photos. The result was a collection of images that showed off their bond and highlighted Nova as a beloved member of the family.

Fun with Bubbles and Zoomies: Nova’s Playful Side

One of the most exciting parts of the session was the playtime. I brought along some bubbles for Nova to chase, which made for some adorable action shots. To wrap up the session, we threw her a ball, and Nova went into full zoomies mode, sprinting around with pure joy.

Even with all this movement, Nova stayed on her leash, which is part of my commitment to safety in every session. Rest assured that even during action images, your dog will always be kept on a leash for their safety, and I’ll take care of editing it out in post.
