Who Doesn’t Love Wine and Dogs?
The combination of these two favorites came together in the best way at a Halloween event I covered for Save Our Scruff, a rescue organization close to my heart. The event was hosted at the beautiful Cave Spring Vineyard, nestled in the heart of Niagara. Known for its scenic views and award-winning wines, Cave Spring made the perfect backdrop for a day filled with costumes, laughter, and a cause we all felt passionate about.

Save Our Scruff
And it was just that vibe that made it perfect for Save Our Scruff’s Halloween event. Save Our Scruff is one of my favorite rescues. They work tirelessly to save and rehome dogs of all backgrounds, with a mission to not only give dogs second chances but also to educate and support dog owners. They’re known for their dedication and passion, and their events are always unforgettable. Save Our Scruff has a knack for gathering people who care deeply about animals, making every gathering feel like a big family reunion.
Costumes, Laughter, and Community
The Halloween event was all about fun and fundraising. From the moment I arrived, I was met with a scene of costumes and excitement. There were dogs dressed up as cowboys, old lady, and superheroes – some even had matching outfits with their pet parents! One standout was a little wiener dog dressed as a hot dog, while the owner had gone all out, dressing up as a hot dog vendor. This duo had everyone laughing, snapping photos, and admiring the creativity. Seeing the bond between these pet parents and their furry friends was heartwarming, and I felt lucky to capture these moments.
Amidst the laughter and costumes, we were all reminded of why we were there: to raise money for dogs in need. It’s incredible to see people come together for such an important cause, combining their love for dogs with a good time. Watching people stroll through the vineyard with their pets, a glass of wine in hand, and smiles on their faces, it was easy to see how events like these make a difference.
