Paws and Poses: Exploring the Art of Dog Photography in Guelph Arboretum

Guelph Arboretum is my favourite place for pet and family portraits.

I met Meghan and her husband at the Pet Palooza show in Brantford early this year; they stopped at my booth with their gorgeous cockapoo, Arlo. They were genuinely excited about the idea of creating memories of their cockapoo, and without hesitation, they purchased my Signature Session.

My Consultation

In my consutaltion with Meghan she explained how she really wanted her pet and family photoshoot session to be in Guelph Arboteretum. This beautiful place held a special meaning to her and her husband. It's where they went to school and mostly important, it's where they met.

I visited the Guelph Arboretum a week before the photoshoot. As a natural pet and family photographer, I wanted to familiarize myself with the location, check the lighting, and discover picturesque spots to pose the family since I'd never been there before.

The pet photography session took place in the fall when the colours were absolutely stunning, and there were lots of leaves on the ground, just like they wanted. 

During The Photoshoot

Arlo and Koda's playful personalities had me laughing nonstop! They continuously chased the ball and each other. Meghan and her husband wanted candid photos of them playing, so that was perfect, and I was happy to create those memories for them.

I took pictures of each of them playing and posing solo and all four together, capturing all the fun moments. As a photographer, I find it to be important not to put my camera down for one moment.

It's the candid moments that I love capturing, such as when pet parents end up ordering artwork for the walls of their home.

It goes without saying that Koda kept the pumpkin toy that he loved. Koda has a sweet personality, and you can't help but smile.

At the end of the photoshoot, Meghan told me she had a great experience. 

That is what my photoshoot sessions are all about. I just want your family and pets to have fun. 

Meghan is already sharing her photos on Facebook, which is truly a compliment to a pet photographer.
