Celebrating 10 Years of Save Our Scruff: Capturing Unforgettable Family and Dog Portraits

This past weekend, I enjoyed being part of Save Our Scruff’s 10th-anniversary event at the beautiful West Avenue Cider House. As a pet and family photographer, I was thrilled to capture portraits of families and their rescue dogs. It was a heartwarming day filled with smiles, laughter, and the undeniable bond between people and their dogs.

The 10th Anniversary Celebration

The 10th-anniversary event at West Avenue Cider House was a huge success. The cider house’s beautiful outdoor space was the perfect setting for families and their dogs to come together and celebrate. It was a day filled with joy as so many people showed up to support this amazing cause.

There were plenty of activities for both people and their dogs. The sense of community was incredible, with everyone coming together to celebrate not only the success of Save Our Scruff but also the relationships they’ve built with their dogs. As I wandered through the crowd, it was clear that each family saw their dog as more than just a pet—they were indeed a part of the family.

Capturing the Bond Between Families and Their Dogs

As a photographer, my goal at the Save Our Scruff 10th Anniversary event was to capture the connection between families and their beloved dogs. Throughout the day, I saw countless examples of how deeply these rescue dogs are loved and cherished. Each portrait reflected the joy these dogs bring to their families and the vital role they play in their lives.

It was clear from the moment I started photographing that these dogs aren’t just pets—they’re family members. Some families shared how their dogs had been part of their lives for years, while others were newer additions, but the love and bond were undeniable. The smiles, wagging tails, and happy interactions were a testament to the deep connections formed through adoption.

Every portrait I took reminded me of how rescue dogs can change lives, and I’m grateful to have been there to document these beautiful relationships.

Why Events Like These Matter

This event wasn’t just about celebrating 10 years of Save Our Scruff; it was about highlighting the impact rescue organizations have on families. Dogs that were once in tough situations now thrive in homes where they are loved and cared for. It’s a testament to the work Save Our Scruff does and the dedication of the people who support it.

Photography plays an important role in this. These family portraits are more than just pictures—they’re stories. They capture the journey of rescue dogs and their new lives with families that love them unconditionally. Seeing families come together to celebrate their dogs and support a cause like Save Our Scruff reminds us of the powerful bond between humans and animals.

The turnout at the event showed how much people care about rescuing dogs and giving them a second chance. From the smiles on the faces of every family to the wagging tails of every dog, it was clear that this event wasn’t just about raising awareness—it was about celebrating the joy these dogs bring into our lives.
