Recently, I had the amazing opportunity to capture some stunning equine photography with Sloane and her beautiful horse, Charlotte!
As an equine photographer, these sessions are truly special, showcasing the unique bond between horses and their owners.
We met up at a peaceful stable in Cambridge, Ontario, which was the perfect spot for our horse photography session.
This particular shoot came from a model call I put out, as I'm currently working towards my professional accreditation in equine photography with the PPOC (Professional Photographers of Canada).

Planning the Perfect Horse Portrait Session
Since Sloane knows her way around stables, I let her guide me. I came prepared with ideas for poses! As an equine photographer, I like to have a plan while also being flexible.
One of my favourite shots was the classic image of Sloane hugging Charlotte – it was simple, powerful, and full of emotion.
We also captured them standing side-by-side, a shot of Sloane riding away, and several other poses that really highlighted their deep connection.
These moments are exactly what I aim for in horse portrait photography.
Styling Your Equine Photography Session
Sloane brought two different outfits, which was a fantastic idea for adding variety to our equinephotography session.
She wore a striking red dress that looked incredible against Charlotte's shiny copper coat.
Later, she changed into jeans and a button-up shirt, complete with a cowboy hat, for a more relaxed and authentic look. The different styles really added personality to her equine portraits.

After our session, Sloane invested in a photo album. There's something truly special about being able to hold printed memories in your hands. A well-designed album lets you relive the story of your horse photography session over and over again, preserving those precious moments.
